Meet Guest Design Team Member - Karen

Karen Williams was chosen to be our January Guest Design Team Member.  Here is her bio:

I am a 36 year old mother of three who has been scrapbooking since the birth of my daughter three and half years ago ( Nancy thinks the half is very important). Originally from the UK, I am currently living in the Netherlands, hence my new found SAHM status, ( In the UK I was a teacher). I like simple scrapping, half an hour is my average time on a LO, and with three children in the house you can understand why. I set myself the challenge of making 365 LOs this year, I stopped count a month ago when I got to 370!
I love chocolate, pizza boxes from the postman, day trips to Amsterdam, shoes, crime novels, knitting, CSI on TV ,baking, taking photographs, Strictly Come Dancing/ dancing with the Stars, scrapbooking of course, and the spring,
I hate talking about myself, bananas, dentists, taking my children for jabs (one coming up on Monday eek) having my hair cut, bananas, that I still bite my nails, and my oven. ( the oven is a long story) (yes bananas is in there twice- I really hate bananas - another long story)

Ice Cream Cake - Joni Dec

I made this layout using Bo Bunny Sunkissed papers and a "sheer" by KI Memories (along the right side).
I also cut out a little Spongebob logo from some packaging (underwear, I think..lol!!)
It was a big deal for my son to have an Ice Cream cake this year (don't know why?)..... so I wanted to be sure to document that.... so when he's older he can never say he didn't have one as a kid!!!

Pagerize Sarah -- by Joni

I just loved the "boy" themed layout and all those little fun embellies that Sarah used at the bottom.  So I chose to start with paper by Little Yellow Bicycle (an older line out of my stash!!)...  and I also had that same eyelet trim as Sarah so I used that too...  I just kept this on my sb table for a few days and as I'd scrap other layouts, I'd "find" something that would work on this one and so it just went into the pile until I couldn't stand it any longer and had to start putting it all down!!  Such fun to just put all that random stash stuff on a layout...and really...I used up lots of fun older stuff from my stash!!!  Double Whammy!!!  Use up stash & complete a fun layout!!!  Thanks for the inspiration Sarah!!  I'm telling you all...you need to try this...it was lots of fun!!!

December Challenge by Missy

Design Team Member Missy submitted this layout for the December Birthday Challenge.  She said, "for this month's challenge, I made a layout for my oldest son's birthday. I had to work with very few photo's (I'm not sure why I had so few!) and most of them weren't ones that I really wanted to use. I picked the two best ones and barely cropped them to take up more space on my layout. I used some fabulous new paper from Echo Park, Little Boy. All of the paper is double sided.  I used both sides of all my paper. The circles are punched out and then cut in half to save paper. I fussy cut around some of the stars on the printed paper to use them as accents.

Here are the rest of the items that I used on my layout:
Cricut-Base Camp, Don Juan
Cuttlebug & embossing folder
iRock
Autumn Leaves stamp
EK Success Slim line punch
EK Success Circle punch

Merry Christmas from Kimmarie

MERRY CHRISTMAS from Kimmarie! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. If you are traveling stay safe and enjoy. Staying home keep warm and cozy with loved ones.

I hope you make a Merry Mess!

Merry Christmas from Sara

Hi there and Merry Christmas!

Last night we went to our good friends house for Christmas Eve dinner. A bunch of military boys and their wives all get together whenever we can and as usual it was a wonderful time! This was the first year that we didn't do something at our house because we have just moved and aren't even close to being done unpacking let alone having dinner here! I am glad that we got to
at least get a picture in front of our friends beautiful tree for my album seeing as how we don't have one!

This year is the first Christmas without my Nana. She passed away earlier this year and she is missed greatly. I wanted to do something special to keep her spirit alive and make her a part of our Christmas this year. My Nana was an AMAZING cook and every year when we were kids we always would look forward to all of the goodies that we knew she could bring to our house on Christmas day! This year I decided to make her coveted Black Moons to bring to dinner at our friends house (and an extra batch for me to keep at our new house for us to munch on of course!) As always they were a HUGE hit and got all gobbled up by our friends, I did however manage to snap a few pictures before we left the house!

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, happy holidays and an amazing new year!

Merry Christmas to all!

And the after shot:

I hope your house was as full of excitement as my house this morning! The clean up has yet to start though! Merry Christmas to all and happy crafting!

Merry Christmas everyone! I just wanted to share with you what I do with the Christmas card that we send out each year. I scrap it! I have an entire album dedicated to just the cards that I send out. I love to get the album out each year and place it on the coffee table so that friends and family who stop over can see it. I love looking back at it to see how the kids have changed from year to year at roughly the same time each year.

For this post I picked last year's card because I have yet to scrap 2010's card. I used some old Basic Grey Wassil.

I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas!

Kathy,
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
Thanks

Merry Christmas from Tammy

Posted by PicasaI've attached the photo I used for our Christmas cards, and here is one of my favorite Scripture verses for Christmas:

And the angel said unto them,

"Fear not!

For, behold, I bring you

tidings of great joy,

Which shall be to all people.

"For unto you is born

this day in the city of David

A Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you:

Ye shall find the babe

wrapped in swaddling clothes,

Lying in a manger.

~ St. Luke 2:10-12

I hope and yours have a very merry and blessed Christmas!

Tammy

Night Before Christmas-Stacy H-W

Happy Holidays from the Watson Gang!!
I wanted to share a tradition that we do at our house Christmas eve.
We get the kids all dressed up in their matching pajamas (how much longer to you think they will agree to this?? ha) and take their picture in front of the tree.
Then we make cookies and milk for Santa (and for them) and they gather around their father and he reads them, "The Night Before Christmas" in front of the fire.
It is such a warm and cozy thing to do and they still love doing it so much.

And it is a nice calming down time before rushing off to bed to have those dreams of Christmas morning.

I wouId like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday. Enjoy.

Do you have a special holiday tradition? We'd would love to hear about it.

December Challenge and Frugal Friday Tip by Malina

Posted by PicasaDesign Team Member Malina submitted this card for the December Birthday Challenge.   She said, this project is a Birthday card I made for my son's birthday...I had never done anything of this sort before but I had lots of scraps of Birthday papers, stickers and embellies left from my daughter's birthday album and I had an image forming in my mind. It actually took several hours to do this because cards are not my thing especially when I am constructing from a fragment of an idea in my own mind with nothing to reference. This pop-up card stands over 7 inches tall and has a wide base to support it. I attempt to show three views of it and so the colors are varied as is the exposure but you can see the project quite well. I used thickers for his name and since I did not like the color of the thickers I had I altered with Stickles and then took the Stickles to the border. I used my Cricut to cut a 4 but handcut the stickers from the coordinating cardstock and then coupled with foam adhesive pop ups to create my own coordinating stickers.

That brings me to a Frugal Friday tip: It is simple to create your own epoxy stickers and 3-D stickers with a few items. Turn a tag, piece of cardstock pattern, die cut or anything else into a sticker. Using Glossy accents or Diamond Glaze cover the item for an epoxy look and use foam stickers to pop off the project. A 3-D effect is achieved when using 2 die cut shapes and raising one shape over the other with foam adhesives. OR use Glue Dots pop up dots...as the Glue Dots, these adhesives provide a super strong hold!

If you use this tip - and would like to share your page - just email it to Scrappinpsycho@live.com.  We will post it here.  Do you have a frugal tip you'd like to share?  Send it along with a picture to scrappinpsycho@live.com and you could be featured for a future Frugal Friday tips.

December Challenge by Kimmarie

Posted by PicasaHi  Design Team Member Kimmarie here! I have been MIA for quite some time now and I missed everyone and SOS. I am now back in full crafting swing and I am looking forward to monthly challenges once again. Today I am sharing a few pages from a clear mini album that I made for my daughter's 7th birthday. I am usually the type of person that does not always like the way my projects turn out. This one is an exception. I was so happy with the way the pages look with the paper, embellies and paint showing through on both sides. This album was super easy and a bunch of fun to create. If you have never done a clear album before, get one and get busy.... I promise you will love it!

December Challenge by Mary Pat

Posted by PicasaFuture Design Team Member Mary Pat submitted this layout for the December Birthday Challenge.  She said, " I loved this month's challenge because I finally finshed Jack's 5th birthday pictures! Once again I used the Imaginisce Birthday Bash. I just loved all the colors and designs. With this layout I didn't want a lot of embellishments. I wanted the main focus to be on Jack. He was really thinking about the wish he was making. The look on his face is priceless. I also loved layering all the differnt pattern papers. I love that layered look especially when everything coordinates. The embellishments are very simple. I had a little tag in the right corner that says "make a wish". Very simple! Sometimes it is the little things that make the layout!

December Challenge - by Ren-Yi

Design Team Member Ren-Yi submitted this card for the December Birthday Challenge.  She said, "the current Scrap Our Stash December Challenge is near and dear to my heart. It is through this wonderful group that I got my first "recognition" for anything crafty and dear Kathy gave me a chance to be a Guest Designer. And now I have been on this team with a bunch of talented, fun and caring ladies - it's been an amazing journey thus far.

So when this month's challenge is in honor of Scrap Our Stash turning the big ONE, I thought what better then to post a birthday project that I had not shared with you.

This birthday project was actually a CASE study on Claire's really creative work. I fell in love with her boat, so when a friend had a birthday coming up, I knew that the perfect gift was going to be a gift card for a day's worth of sailing. He has picked up sailing as a hobby this year and went to sailing school to get his license. What I love most about this friend is that when he says he wants to learn sailing, he'll actually follow through and go get that sailing license. The only sad thing is we were not sure where he goes sailing, so we could not gift him a gift card. Instead we had to give him his sailing trip in the form of cold, hard cash. I hope, he didn't mind.

Happy Birthday, Sailor Boy

Here another up-close look at the captain's face. It really looks like my friend ;)

Happy Birthday, Sailor Boy

You still have time to throw something birthday-like into the December Birthday Challenge. Perhaps you'll be picked as the next Guest Designer?  See all the details on how to submit your Birthday project in December Challenge below.

And don't miss our fun Pagerize This Challenge that is going on right now also.  You can see all the details in Pagerize This Challenge #5 below.

Show and Tell Sunday - Angelica's Wedding by Kimmarie

My first Show and Tell! Recently my cousin's (who is actually my best friend) daughter got married. My cousin planned this wedding in a matter of two weeks. No not prego, her new hubby is being shipped of to Afghanistan in February so they decided to marry before he left. They live 4 hours north of NJ and it snows quite often after October. Angel asked all three of my daughter's to be in her wedding and she didn't want to get married without me being there. I don't travel north in the snow so this was the reason for a quickly thrown together wedding. My cousin, Kelly and I had a blast planning over the phone and shopping for red, black and white dresses for my girls. We got there around 8pm the night before the wedding, immediately I made a huge pot of sauce and baked ziti for 50 people. The next morning my mom cooked sausage, peppers and onions while my cousin and I ran all over and went to hall to set up for the big event. The bride and her girls went to get their nails done. When they got back I took lots of pictures of them getting their hair and makeup done. I never saw a happier bride except the day I got married. :) We had the best time. Who says you need to spend a fortune to get married and have a ball. Here is a picture of the bridal party. My 3 girls are on the far right. Thanks for letting me share this special day with you.

Show N' Tell Sunday - Oh Christmas Tree by Kathy

Posted by PicasaMy Toy Story tree - as you can tell this is the tree the kids get to decorate.  You can also see how tall they are - seems how all the toys are at the same level - all in a line!

I love that the kids are able to decorate - and play with the ornaments on this tree.  It gets re-decorated almost daily!
